Arteta Applauds a More Dependable Squad and Confirms Kai Havertz Setback.
Mikel Arteta remains confident that his team can keep managing with player absences following disclosing that star striker Kai Havertz is not ready for the coming weeks.

Havertz has been absent since the summer due to knee surgery. Hoped to be available earlier in December, the manager stated the player faced a hurdle when advancing his recovery and was unable to move forward “the next phase.”
“We learned, and we were able to put together a squad that is far more dependable and has increased versatility,” commented Arteta.

This news creates a selection headache for Wednesday’s home game against Brentford. Arteta must choose between sticking with Mikel Merino, who got a goal as a makeshift striker last weekend, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who made a return off the bench as a substitute. He shared his eagerness to welcome him back. “Everyone is eager to have him. I mean, he is a footballer who, for me, I value highly for what he brings to the team, but his mentality, his nature. I observe his frustration while sidelined.”
