Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior official said the incident made him without words and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
