The original creators of the well-known ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has stated how corporate owner Unilever blocked the introduction for a new Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

Ben Cohen, who co-founded the business with his partner, revealed how he will personally create this new product within a personal series showcasing causes Ben & Jerry's has been prevented from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Dispute Involving Founders versus Parent Company

The recent announcement deepens the continuing tension between the world-famous ice cream maker and Unilever, the UK-based consumer goods giant which acquired Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

Both founders maintain how Unilever along with its ice cream arm the Magnum brand unlawfully blocked their company against "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

The Fruit Sorbet as a Symbol for Support

Mr. Cohen stated via social media that he's developing a new watermelon-flavored frozen dessert, requesting consumer ideas regarding the product's name plus potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” the founder declared in a cooking set. “I'm creating a watermelon-based ice cream that advocates for permanent peace in Palestine and calls for addressing the harm that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has emerged as a symbol of support for the Palestinian people because of its coloration, that match those of Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Previous Activism and Current Developments

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell their merchandise in territories under Israeli control, resulting in the parent company selling their Israel business over to a local licensee, thus allowing continued sales within the occupied West Bank.

This upcoming dessert series will be developed under Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the activist ice cream brand which originally established several years back for endorsing ex- political contender Senator Sanders via the product "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Shifts plus Future Intentions

The founder stated that he plans to develop other ice cream flavors focusing on issues that the company was silenced from addressing publicly by corporate restrictions.

The announcement comes after partner Mr. Greenfield stepped down his position at the company in September, following decades with the organization, mentioning worries regarding how the company's autonomy was undermined following Unilever's decision to curb its social activism.

At that time, Ben Cohen remarked that “My partner has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was breaking it."

“My conscience leads me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for corporate autonomy so that the company can fulfill its ethical purpose, the principles that it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he told journalists.
