Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
