Recent Oil Plant Strike Reveals 'No Protected Areas in the Russian Far Hinterland'

Ukraine's drones have targeted the Russian oil processing plant in the city of Ufa, situated around 1,400 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, causing explosions and a blaze, per a source in the Ukrainian Security Service.

This constitutes the latest intelligence long-range attack in Bashkortostan in the recent weeks. These operations demonstrate that there are no safe places in the far hinterland of the Russian Federation.

Ukrainian President Calls On US President to Broker Ceasefire in Ukraine

The Ukrainian leader urged President Trump to broker peace in Ukraine during a phone call on Saturday.

In the Russian adjacent territory of Belgorod, a vehicle operator was lost his life by a drone assault, according to regional authorities.

Energy Restoration Work in the Capital

Operations proceeded on Saturday to restore power in the Ukrainian capital, after strikes by Moscow.

Energy had been returned to in excess of 800,000 inhabitants by Saturday and the major private energy company said the key efforts to repair the grid was finished though partial blackouts continued.

Air Defence Efforts and UAV Jamming

The Ukrainian defense forces intercepted or jammed 54 of 78 total UAVs from Russia sent targeting Ukraine in the dark hours, the military announced on the weekend.

Russia's defense officials claimed it eliminated forty-two drones over its own soil.

Cuba Rejects Accusations of Sending Forces to Ukraine

The Cuban government on Saturday rejected US assertions it has deployed troops to fight in the Ukraine war, while affirming Cuban authorities "are without exact data about citizens of Cuba" involved "on their own" or "in the military forces of the conflicting parties".

The foreign ministry in the capital said 26 nationals had been sentenced to incarceration ranging from 5 to 14 years for mercenary activity since September 2023 when news circulated of Cuban nationals being sent to the battlefield in the conflict.
