Shock as Beloved South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by three individuals, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive of the shooting is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Police revealed that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a location near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the building managing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"It is alleged the man was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," authorities confirmed.
Security camera video showed a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what resembled a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but fell down a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the incident.
Important clues, like spent shells, were found at the location.
Call for Public Assistance
Authorities have requested members of the public who may have have information to come forward.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the shooting, and investigators have been following their trail to find their destination," added an official.
Outpouring of Grief
His sister, a close relative, stated the relatives are devastated to come to terms with the loss.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about topics not many people were willing to discuss. This is a tremendous loss."
She appealed to the citizens to refrain from sharing explicit content from the scene, explaining this was an extremely painful time, especially for Stock's children.
A Multifaceted Career
Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that premiered on a popular local broadcasting platform.
In addition to his media career, Stock was active in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including protective services, supplying VIP protection services and managing safety for high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in building administration and participated in property reclaimations.

His death has caused national trauma and prompted an wave of remembrances from his fans, the authorities and various organizations.
A cabinet official commented he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's killing.
"He was forthright without fear or favour. He even criticized me and my actions as a public official. He was a true embodiment of who we must aspire to be," was his tribute.
A party figurehead said the "shocking killing of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a tragedy for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director noted that "Stock was far beyond a TV personality. He was a gifted communicator, a true devotee of sound and a warm soul who brought joy and energy to every appearance. His artistic passion left an lasting impression."
In a release, the channel he worked for declared Stock was known for his magnetism, warmth and sharp wit, adding that his influence "will be remembered".
