The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The notable list of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The song blends a combination of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The track is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
