The Streaming Giant Chooses Perfect Performer for Bentham in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the real showdown won’t take place until the third season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

The platform declared Tuesday that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Mr. 2. Bon Clay has the ability to morph into an exact copy of any individual they’ve laid a hand on with their main hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that figure reimagined as non-binary, rather than as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the source material and anime.

Escola joins several other fresh additions who will portray Baroque Works to life, including head Mr. 0, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the ensemble as the ruler of the desert kingdom.

Even though this character is a major member of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Considering season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this marks a notable change in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest additional alterations to the plot development.

Their mix of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the role. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece program is set to return for its second season on March 10, 2026.
