Trump Invites Families of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.
Presidential Offer
The president said he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president addressed reporters. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Public Support
Mourners gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support public safety in DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“Sarah was the individual that instructors desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to help others.”
Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Policy Changes
Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy caused the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and cease issuing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor the governor mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit his relatives.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” he told the audience at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
