Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for a new domestically developed interceptor drone to reinforce its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to set up production lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Situations

The drones will be based on a domestically developed system called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and demonstrated effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Latest Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” after six people lost their lives and many others injured in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in Kyiv shortly after midnight on Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Zelenskyy stated the country was hit by 430 drones and multiple missiles. The deceased were inside their residences in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Objection After Embassy Destruction

Azerbaijan said it delivered a formal objection to the Russian ambassador on Friday after the embassy damage. Russia intends to manufacture as many as 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said, among them 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that can reach more towns and cities. Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs per day, with the previous month's average daily usage standing at about 170, based on official military statistics.

Russia’s Black Sea port of the port city temporarily suspended oil exports on Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its military had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of operations to reduce the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces additionally struck a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

Global Sanctions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers concerning its international holdings after recent sanctions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “Final arrangements will be announced once the final agreements are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” the company commented.

Zelenskyy will convene with representatives from all houses of parliament during his visit, the Spanish statement said.
